The purpose is to advise and assist the Senior Services efforts to address older Kansas’s issues affecting the community and report to the County Commission on a periodic basis. All actions taken are advisory in nature and subject to the final approval of the Board of County Commissioners. Assist DOSS in assessing the community’s needs of the elderly and the resources available for meeting those needs. Plan for the initiation, expansion, or improvement of services. Make recommendations on goals and objectives and on strategies to meet stated objectives. Encourage support for the development and implementation of effective programs and services for the elderly. Involve recipients of services in determining matters of DOSS activities. Conduct ongoing evaluation of activities to determine effectiveness of services and extent to which services are being utilized. Be aware of and familiar with the various funding sources which support programs and services for senior citizens.
